Additional Features:
Abzorb® FL Abzorb® cushioning is the New Balance proprietary basic cushioning compound. This foam-based polymer works by dispersing the forces out from the point of impact and reducing the shock that is transferred through the shoe and up into the leg and body (this type of shock is sometimes responsible for heel, ankle, and even back pain). Shoes featuring Abzorb® FL (Full-Length) have an entire midsole made of the foam-based Abzorb® cushioning compound. This provides a lightweight and well-cushioned

360° Reflectivity Safety Feature
Synthetic/Mesh Upper Provides lightweight comfort and support

Ortholite® Foam Insert Delivers long term comfort, breathability, and anti-microbial function to fight odor
TS2® Transitional Support System The TS2® Transitional Support System helps create a smooth transition from heel strike to toe-off

From Running Times:
Quote:
The 1224 has a very relaxed fit — with very few internal seams. Some wear testers termed it sloppy – but more found it pleasingly “open.” The 1224’s low arch allows it to accept orthotics particularly well. The isolated heel crash pad, stiff midfoot shank and dual-density medial post provide excellent pronation control.

P-Factor: Slight and Moderate Overpronators

Default New Balance 1224

From Runners World:
Quote:
The upper of the 1224 has been reinforced with additional overlays to better wrap the arch and lock down the foot, giving the shoe extra stability. These overlays are now welded instead of stitched to reduce chafing. Also, a more durable foam now sits under the heel, with small sections cut out of it. These holes help drop the weight of the shoe by nearly a half ounce, with no effect on rearfoot softness. Recommended for lightweight runners with flat feet or average runners looking for a soft, stable shoe with a good midfoot fit.
