The GEL-Kayano 13 contains the very best of ASICS IGS Adaptive Technology including the ultra-lightweight Solyte midsole. New to the GEL-Kayano 13 is the use of Spacemaster-UV upper material, and a special support plate positioned above the GEL pad in the heel, which effectively spreads the load more evenly upon initial impact.
The GEL-Kayano 14 is built for the serious high mileage runner seeking the very best blend of leading ASICS technologies. An Icon shoe in the industry for the vast majority of foot types.
KEY FEATURES
• Higher volume rearfoot GEL provides extraordinary cushioning
• PU distribution plate sits on top of the GEL bag to even out load
• Space Trusstic works with the complex functions of the foot to facilitate Windlass Mechanics
• Spacemaster UV upper mesh to keep a dry and cool environment for the foot
• Forefoot outersole features the new AHAR Ride +, for unprecedented ride and feel
A slightly updated version of this longtime favorite. Stability and protective cushioning are felt at every point (heelstrike, mid-stance, and toe-off) of transition. Thanks to Asics for reformulating their highest-tech foam to add a bit more bounce. Despite the abundance of durability-adding overlays, there are no pinch points. Our testers found that the heel slips a bit, requiring some testers to lock the heel using the rear eyelets.
An outstanding update. The gel heel unit in the Kayano 14 is 25 percent larger than the one found in the 13. According to our tests, the 14 is slightly firmer than its predecessor because of a plastic plate, which sits on top of the Gel unit and prevents the heel from feeling too mushy--our testers found the cushioning either perfect or firm; none said it was too soft. The midsole is made of new, lightweight foam that's designed to bounce back more quickly. Recommended for runners who need a stable, well-cushioned shoe.
I remember slipping into my first pair of Kayano 13's and they were heaven. The 13's are the perfect width, have wonderful cushioning and my feet are never tired or achy after a run. I was thrilled about these new 14's and couldn't wait to buy a pair. Until I tried a pair on the other day. Asics has narrowed the toe box and heel, it doesn't feel as cushy and they're just not as nice. I think I had better stock up on my 13's before they're hard to come by.

I've owned a pair of New Balance before and thought that is what running shoes were supposed to feel like. It was time to buy a new pair of shoes and after some research I decided to try these on at the store. Wow. These shoes are wonderful! After a workout my feet don't feel tired or ache. I can't say anything bad about these shoes. They're are great! I know what shoes I'll be buying again when needed. Highly recommened!

I have had my Asics Kayano 13's for about 9 months. They are worn out from action . I have worn them on all sorts of off road terrain and also on track . I compete in running events almost every weekend .I have tried many shoe manufacturers and models .I will buy another pair. These are brilliantly comfortable and lightweight. I recommend them. Price is a little high but these are EXCELLENT

The Kayano 13 is a great shoe; it provides stability and a nice ride without feeling to heavy. For previous marathons and ultras I have worn other Asics and have been happy with their performance. A good friend recommended that I move to higher stability shoe to protect my joints when doing high mileage on the pavement. The Kayanos are great for pavement and moderate trail running. I am very pleased with this shoe and will buy them again

This is the 5th pair of Keyano I've owned. All of them take a little while to feel really good (probably 15-20 miles), but once you hit that, they feel great and are a very durable shoe.
I totally agree. I just bought a pair of Kayano 14 and put around 200 miles on it...they are sweet!...I just love them...The only down side if any, is that if you dont wear a good pair of thick socks, you may get some blisters..but other than that, they are real good.

Frogan the thickness of the socks has little affect on blistering risk. What is more important is the material the sock is made from, the fit of the shoe and the environmental conditions. Wicking fibres like coolmax keep your feet cooler and maintain their shape when wet. Fibres like cotton get waterlogged, lose their shape and get abrasive when wet. This has far more impact on blistering then the thickness of the sock. If the shape of the shoe does not match your foot shape then blistering can also occur however a better solution is to get a shoe that fits rather than relying on socks to fix the problem.
By the way the kayano sock is just as excellent as the kayano shoe.
The Following User Says Thank You to Steve The Footman For This Useful Post:
The new Kayano has an exceptional fit and superior impact protection. Testers were almost unanimous in their praise of the shoe's new off-center lacing pattern, which follows the actual topline of the foot for a naturally snug arch wrap. Asics also filled the heel with more Gel than ever before and topped it off with a plastic cap that keeps it from feeling gushy. The result is slightly better cushioning that makes the shoe a tenth of an ounce heavier. Recommended for runners with normal arches who need a stable, well-cushioned shoe.
any comments on Kayano 15?, I just upgraded from 14 to 15... I can tell u they feel as great as their predecessor. Hard to tell the difference from 14. I will need to run them much more to tell the difference. I will use them this weekend on my first 10 KM...we will see.
