NATURAL MOTION ENGINEERING
When you run barefoot, motion is uninhibited – we call this NATURAL MOTION engineering.
Each pair of NIKE FREE EVERYDAY shoes has been built around this simple philosophy – to
free up the foot so that it moves as easily and smoothly as bio-mechanically possible.
Learnings from NIKE FREE have allowed us to create a highly stable platform that encourages
a neutral footstrike, making NIKE FREE EVERYDAY perfect for longer runs.
CONSTRUCTION
Super light and fexible, NIKE FREE EVERYDAY offers exceptional support and stability with
cushioning that helps feet stay comfortable over long distances.
UPPER
The internal heel counter cups the heel to deliver support and stability while open mesh
enhances comfort. A midfoot saddle wraps around the rear foot for a balance of comfort,
breathability, locked-down ft and support.
MID-SOLE
Here’s where things get really interesting. While the mid-sole maintains ground contact
under the midfoot to support the foot during midstance, a super resilient
8mm Nike Zoom Air unit offers the kind of cushioning runners dream
about. Deep Nike FREE inspired fex grooves allow the foot to be both
fexible and stable, plus graduated heel and mid-foot fex grooves give
added stability to over-pronating runners.
OUTSOLE
Carbon rubber provides maximum abrasion resistance and Duralon in the forefoot keeps
things comfortable. The addition of solid rubber in the medial rear foot and toe-tip
ensures NIKE FREE EVERYDAY will go the distance.
WOMEN
NIKE Women’s FREE EVERYDAY+ is the shoe for women who want to start running the
minute they put them on. There’s no need for strengthening the foot beforehand so they
can run over long distances from the word go. The super light and fexible feel let women’s
feet move easily and smoothly, encouraging a neutral footstrike. Cushioning, exceptional
support and stability, plus comfort. NIKE Women’s FREE EVERYDAY allows women the
freedom to keep on running.

MOTION Engineering, which can assist in strengthening feet.
Each pair of NIKE FREE shoes has been built around this simple philosophy – to free up
the foot so that it moves as easily and as smoothly as is bio-mechanically possible.
The NIKE FREE 5.0 is suited to the runner who is ready to take foot strengthening to
the next level. The NIKE FREE 5.0 is less supportive than the NIKE FREE 7.0 and more
suited to the neutral runner.
CONSTRUCTION
The NIKE FREE 5.0 has one of the most fexible mid – sole / outsole combinations ever in a
Nike shoe. Strategically placed slices in the upper material provide support while allowing
for fexible foot movement. The foot bed has been designed to match
the plantar surface of a foot. When combined with very low mid - sole height this eliminates
most of the ‘lever arm’ effect that a traditional shoe has on pronation and foot angles. So
the foot lands generally more through the lateral midfoot even if you traditionally are a
heel-striker. Much of the mid - sole design found on traditional runners has been removed, allowing
for lower limb angles similar to barefoot mechanics. In the forefoot outsole of the shoe
you’ll notice wider channels or sipes. These are designed so that when running a true clawing
action of the toes will take place - an action normally only possible when barefoot.
We’ve carried that barefoot feeling through to the upper. A 3-D sandwich mesh allows
your foot to breathe freely and asymmetrical overlays keep your foot in place but won’t
hinder its natural movement. So now thanks to FREE 5.0 the body can meet
the demands of the mind, and then some.
WOMEN
The NIKE Women’s FREE 5.0 V 4 has a unique siping pattern as a waffe outsole to enhance
female forefoot cushioning and a deeper siping pattern with wider horizontal grooves
to allow for toe fexion. We’ve done this so that the outsole works with the specifc
movement of the female forefoot, which is more mobile than men’s. Running barefoot
never felt this good.

little support and is designed for runners seeking a near barefoot experience.
Part of NIKE FREE 3.0’s barefoot appeal is that at 160g, it’s so light that most runners
will barely notice they’re wearing them.

The foot bed has been designed to match the plantar surface of a foot.
When combined with very low mid-sole height, it eliminates most of the ‘lever

lands generally more through the lateral midfoot even if you traditionally are a

removed, allowing for lower limb angles similar to barefoot mechanics. In the outsole
you’ll notice deeper channels under both the midfoot and forefoot. This means less
resistance to the natural motion of the foot so that when running, a true clawing action
of the toes will take place - an action normally only possible when barefoot. NIKE FREE 3.0
isn’t completely insane - it’s just the product of radical thinking.
WOMEN
The NIKE Women’s FREE 3.0 is the lightest and thinnest shoe in the Women’s NIKE FREE
range. It is the ultimate in NATURAL MOTION Engineering, allowing your foot to move and
function as though you are running barefoot. This can help to make feet grow stronger and
that means less injuries.
I started with a pair of Free 5.0 and used them mostly for walking around in when at work. The main advantage is that they make your feet work a bit more. Initially they can give you sore feet if you wear them too much. As you get used to them there seems to be a definite improvement in the strength of your feet when running normally. I then upgraded to a pair of Free 7.0 and I felt that the extra support made them more comfortable and durable. I have just got myself a pair of Free 3.0 which are the least supportive of the Free line of shoes. While I will not be running in them I still think that they offer some benefit to some runners in strengthening the feet.
