Default Mizuno Wave Precision 8

From Runner's World:
Quote:
The overhauled Precision 8 comes with a new upper, a new last, and a softer outsole. Mizuno removed many of the overlays, but retained internal nylon bands to provide support. As with several shoes in this guide, the new last is narrower in the heel and arch but wider in the forefoot for a more accommodating fit. Mizuno added more pods to the rubber outsole to help absorb impact. They also improved forefoot flexibility, according to our lab tests. Recommended for efficient, lightweight runners.

From Running Times:

The Precision 9 feels softer in the forefoot than one would expect from a thin forefoot design. The immediate first impression of most testers was not overly positive, but after a short break-in period, the most common report was “I didn’t feel like I was wearing anything.” The break-in period is needed because of the uniquely-placed arch support (which centered under the foot) and thick, supportive overlays in the midfoot and forefoot. They all work together to center the foot on the light, low-profile midsole. The toe boxes of our wear-test samples was a bit long. The small niche of long-toed efficient runners should like the Precision 9.

Mizuno Wave Precision 9

From Runners World:
Quote:
The latest Precision is slightly heavier but just as flexible. The upper has a new two-layer mesh that's designed to give the shoe a more supportive feel around the foot. Some testers liked it and others thought it felt baggy, so try before you buy. There's also more foam under the arch of the sockliner, which makes the shoe feel more supportive. Recommended for efficient runners with normal to high arches looking for a lightweight, flexible shoe.
